EAST OF SCOTLAND COCKER SPANIEL CLUB – 26 class Breed Open Show
SATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2014
My pleasure to travel North to judge this show, a very warm welcome awaited me and I had a great day judging great dogs, a lovely friendly show with a wonderful atmosphere that lasted all day, hopefully enjoyed by all, my thanks to the hard working committee for your support and to  my lovely stewards who kept me well informed.
Class 1: Veteran (Dog) (Entries: 2 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. J. E. Smith`s: Craigdean Franks-a-Million at Luanshya, BR now 9 years old, lovely type, still maintains his lovely soft head, dark eye, coat is lovely condition, good bone, great rib,  carrying the right amount of weight,,  moved with such drive and full of life, would still do a days work if asked. Best Veteran in Show.

2nd: Miss C. Howsley`s: Broanglen Circle of Life at Wishuswell BR, 8 years old and not to be outdone, good head, dark eye, nice neck and shoulders, good rib, short coupled, steady mover, slightly short on feathering today.
Class 2: Minor Puppy Dog (Entries: 2 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. A. Scotland`s: Indigo Sun BR, 7 months old and well up to size for age, good classic head, beautiful soft dark eyes, great substance, correct front, neck will come in time, great spring of rib,  rear angulation ok, moved with confidence.
 Class 3: Puppy Dog (Entries: 4 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. C. Cartney`s: Carlundie`s Cooper – B Rn, lovely classic head, correct stop, dark eye, good neck and shoulders, great rib on this puppy,  Coat is just how it should be for age, correct front and good rear angulation, moved well.  This young dog is heading for the stars, will watch his future with interest.
2nd: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Walnut Whip ChRn Close up to 1, Head OK, good neck and correct shoulder placement, good bone and substance throughout, nice feet, good rear angulation, also moved well.
3rd: E. & A. Moncrieff`s: Mondale Winter Blast
Class 4: Junior Dog  (Entries: 4 Abs: 2)
1st: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Magic Flute – BW – 17 months, very full of himself, nice head, dark eye, good neck and shoulder placement, slightly long cast, good bone throughout, correct tail set, moved well when settled, enjoys life I think.
2nd: Mrs. & Miss W & J Reid & Aitken`s: Shanaz Blether – BR, 15 months nice type, good head with dark eye, good substance, correct front, great rib and good rear angulation, still has a way to go before he hits the mark but he has everything that only time can improve.  
 Class 5: Maiden Dog  (Entries: 5 Abs: 1)
1st: R. & M.Kennedy & Waddington`s: Lynwater Daydreamer of Kenwad – my star of the day,  BR good head with  beautiful melting expression, good strong neck flowing into correct shoulders, great front, and good bone, neat tight feet,  great spring of rib, short in the body and great rear angulation. presented in  hard condition. Full Coat in tip top condition, just could not fault him, he was so balanced and beautifully presented,  my hands told me wow and my notes stated “ just lovely”, This dog will hold his own in top company currently being shown at Championship level.  Best dog and Best in Show.

2nd: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Spun Yarn – O/ Rn – Just approaching 12 months Good head, dark eye, good neck and shoulders, front ok, good bone, slightly longer than 1 but good spring of rib, nice rear angulation giving him correct drive. beautifully presented. Gets tired when stacked and loses his top line, but on the move its level. Best Puppy Dog & Best Puppy in Show.

3rd: Mrs. C. Cartney`s: Carlundie`s Cooper
Class 6: Novice Dog  (Entries: 2 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Magic Flute
2nd: Mrs. & Miss W & J Reid & Aitken`s: Shanaz Blether
Class 7: Special Yearling Dog (Entries: 4 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. & Mrs. Madigan & Fairbairn`s: Grassmillees Mr. Bojangle – Ch Rn, really nice type, good clean head for this colour, kind eye, good front and bone, neat feet, good spring of rib, short, well presented coat,  correct rear angulation, short hocks, presented in hard condition.  moved out very well with drive.
2nd: Mrs. W. Bodzak`s: Briconess Solar Flare – Gold, close up to 1, very nice type, soft expression on a good head, neck ok, good bone, good rib, slightly longer than 1, correct rear angulation, moved steadily.  
3rd: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Magic Flute
Class 8: Under Graduate Dog  (Entries: 2 Abs: 0)
1st: Miss N. Roger`s: Pembrokegate Dandy Lad – Blk – 4 year old dog, lots to like, nice head, not course, lovely neck and shoulders, great substance, neat feet, good spring of rib, rounded rump and good rear angulation, well muscled up.  You have to go over this dog to appreciate his build, good hard condition and full of life, moved with great drive, Reserve Best Dog.

2nd: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Magic Flute
Class 9: Graduate Dog (Entries: 1 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Magic Flute
 Class 10: Post Graduate Dog (Entries: 4 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Wild Mint -masculine head, good neck and shoulders with good front and feet. Strong rib and strong loin. Correct front and rear angulation. Shown in hard condition and well presented, pleasing to the eye. Moved out well.
2nd: Mrs. S. Ewan`s: Craigdean Rocket Man – BR – very close to 1, nice type, good head, dark eye, clean neck, good substance, just preferred neck and shoulders on 1.
3rd: Mrs. S. McFarlane`s: Lochranza Lord of the Isles
Class 11: Limit Dog (Entries: 4 Abs: 0)
1st: GCV Low & Flowers: Totenkopf Kirlinjis Dutch Dragoon JW SH CM – Blk – Lots to like about this dog,  lovely example of the breed, good masculine head  but with the softest melting  expression, good stop, excels in neck and shoulders, great body and substance throughout,  lovely rear angulation, presentation was as good as it gets, in gleaming coat, moved effortlessly, tail carried a tad high which counted when considering him for best dog.
2nd: Todd McCormack & Brown`s: Lynwater Storm Petrel – Gold,  nice head, good bone correct front, fabulous feet, slightly longer than 1, but moved with purpose. Needs to coat up.
3rd: Mrs. S. McFarlane`s: Lochranza Lord of the Isles
Res: Mrs. M. Hynd`s: Scomar Interceptor
Class 12: Open Dog (Entries: 5 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. J. E. Smith`s: Craigdean Callimakokr at Luanshy – BR –  balanced dog,well up to size, masculine head, dark eye, correct ear placement, clean neck, good shoulders, front legs well tucked under, good sprung of rib, shown in hard condition, good coat, well presented, moved very well.
2nd: Miss C. Howsley`s: Broanglen Circle of Life at Wishuswell
3rd: Mrs. S. McFarlane`s: Cooleela Rob Roy 
Class 13: Veteran (Bitch) (Entries: 1 Abs: 1)
Class 14: Minor Puppy Bitch (Entries: 6 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. H. Manzie`s: Bromfield Remenise  Black, 6 months old, Just lovely for one so young, melting expression, so feminine,  nice neck and shoulders, short coupled, big rib, front legs well tucked under, enough rear angulation at this stage of the game,  coat was just right for age. Time is on her side and will get better and better.  Best puppy bitch.

2nd: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Tipperlin Traviata – O/Rn 6 months, good feminine head, dark eye, longer in the body than 1, good front,legs  well tucked under, nice rib,  just at the wobbly stage but moved out with confidence. Nicely handled.
3rd: Mr. & Mrs Swan`s: Fine Design
Class 15: Puppy Bitch (Entries: 6 Abs: 1)   What a headache this class was, all exhibits were lovely examples of our breed and all of them could swop places with each other, on the day, my choice was as follows:
1st: Mrs. C. Cartney`s: Carlundie`s Yaris –light Blue Rn – 10 months, very striking, great classic head, dark eye, lovely neck and shoulder flowing into a well ribbed body,  well off for bone, excellent rear angulation, correct tailset, moved with great purpose, should have a great future.
2nd: Mrs. J. Fairbairn`s: Carmelfair Calabrianna – 7 month dark blue of lovely type, nice head, dark eye,  neck/shoulders ok, big ribs, quite balanced throughout, coat just right for age, lovely rear angulation, moved very well.
3rd: Mrs. R. Adams: Whinburn Abracadabra
Class 16: Junior Bitch  (Entries: 5 Abs: 0)
1st: D. & MD Todd & Rahman`s: Doubtless Pillowtalk – Black, 17 months, really like this bitch, lovely classic head with soft expression, good neck and shoulders, body square and compact,  good straight topline, enough rib, , correct tailset, neat feet, presented in good order throughout, a very balanced bitch and very pleasing to the eye. She has an aura about her, others would call it ‘stage presence’. Lovely on the move. Reserve best Bitch.
2nd: Miss C. Howsley`s: Wishuswell Miss Naughty – Solid Liver, nice type, honest  compact little bitch, well off for bone, good square body, has good rear angulation but hidden by too much coat,  held topline on the move,  body feathering needs to mature to complete the picture.
3rd: Mrs. H. Christie`s: Whitfield`s When U Wish Upon a Star
Class 17: Maiden Bitch (Entries: 6 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Show Girl ) – Choc Rn –Very short and compact bitch,  Nice feminine head, soft expression for this colour, very balanced throughout, good neck and shoulders, excellent front, big rib, good round rump and just enough rear angulation to complete picture.  On the move she was very steady keeping her topline.  Nicely presented, as expected from this Kennel.
2nd: Mrs. R. Adams: Whinburn Little Grouse – Black –  quite a strong head , nice dark eye, excels in neck and shoulders,  good front, legs well tucked under, big rib,  nice round bum and good rear angulation, slightly longer than 1, could not fault presentation on this bitch, nice bustle movement.
3rd: Mrs. C. Cartney`s: Carlundie`s Yaris
Class 18: Novice Bitch  (Entries: 4 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. J. Fairbairn`s: Misperros Kerrerra of Carmelfair – 13 months old O/Rn, really lovely bitch to go over, soft pretty head, dark eye, strong neck with correct shoulder angulation, front legs well tucked under supporting a good ribbed body, shown in hard condition, nice rear angulation, when she is in full coat I don’t think there will be much to stop this young bitch.  Will always be in the cards.
2nd: Mrs. R. Adams: Whinburn Little Grouse
3rd: Mr. M. Blazejczak`s: Redgranate Red Diamond
 Class 19: Special Yearling Bitch (Entries: 2 Abs: 0)  
1st: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Elder Flower – 13 months BR, well up to size for age, lovely head, soft expression, dark eye, enough neck, good shoulders, well ribbed,  lovely level topline, well muscled hind quarters and good rear angulation, a difficult coat at that inbetween stage , moved extremely well, with purpose.
2nd: Mr. & Mrs Swan`s: Fine Design Blue Rn, Head OK, kind eye, neck/ shoulders  OK, front legs well tucked under body,  does not have the rear angulation of 1 and carrying a tad too much weight today, needless to say, happy on the move keeping her topline.
Class 20: Under Graduate Bitch  (Entries: 8 Abs: 3)
1st: Mrs. W. Bodzak`s: Briconess Winter Eclipse – 3 yr old B/Tan bitch, lovely cocker, beautiful feminine head, soft expression for this colour, good neck/shoulders, well off for bone, fabulous feet, nice rib, balanced throughout body, straight topline, correct tailset, good  round rear quarters and good rear angulation giving this bitch lovely drive on the move.   Nicely presented.
2nd: J. Garrett`s: Carmelfair Dorada – B/Rn, close to 1, sweet head, dark eye, enough neck, good shoulder placement, compact body,  good substance and shown in full coat, nicely presented, just preferred rear angulation on 1.
3rd: Mrs. E. MacLean`s: Lynwater Celtic Rhyme
Class 21: Graduate Bitch (Entries: 4 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. A. Scotland`s: Think of me – O/Rn, nice type,extremely  pretty head, dark eye, nice neck,shoulders, very neat feet, enough bone, great  spring of rib, well muscled and correct rear angulation, need to coat up to finish the picture.
2nd: Mr. & Miss Neatham & Gribbin`s: Shoogsea Peach Streisand – different type, heavier  but still of type, clean head, neck/shoulders OK., good body with well sprung ribs, just off a litter hence coat a little sparce in places, preferred rear angulation of 1.
3rd: Mrs. Vera Gray`s: Shadowview Look at Me
Class 22: Post Graduate Bitch (Entries: 6 Abs: 0)
1st: Mrs. J. Fairbairn`s: Amarillo Starlight of Carmelfair – Dark B/Rn nice type, classic head, soft expression, neck ok, nicely placed shoulders, ,enough rib, good topline, lovely rear angulation and shown in hard condition, you have to go over this bitch to appreciate the way she is made, on the move, she just excelled, very happy girl and would go all day if asked.
2nd: Mrs. M. Madigan`s: Carmelfair Islay del Misperros – nice type, slightly heavier than 1. Great neck and shoulders moving down into good compact body, well off for bone, balanced throughout, nice rear angulation,, presentation top draw,  moved out very well, just preferred head of 1.
3rd: Mrs. W. Bodzak`s: Briconess Summer Breeze
Class 23: Limit Bitch (Entries: 5 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. M. Madigan`s: Misperros Mystical – light Blue, nice type, head OK, clean neck, good shoulders, slightly long cast in the body.  Good round bone , very steady on the move,  overall a pleasing and honest cocker.
2nd: R. & M. Kennedy & Waddington`s: Julmared Glad all Over – Dark Blue, typy bitch, nice head, neck ok, compact body,, good bone, excellent rear angulation, presentation A1, carrying far too much weight today, enthusiastic on the move which made it difficult to assess breed points.
3rd: Miss A. McManus: Carmelfair China Model
Class 24: Open Bitch (Entries: 6 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. L. Duncan: Bartonholm Spell Spinner – O/Rn stunning. Out of the top draw. Melting expression on a classic head,  lovely flowing neck into correct shoulders, moving onto a well ribbed body and good strong topline, lovely substance throughout, well toned muscle , lovely rear angulation, weight was perfect, presentation was excellent, such a wonderful example of our breed, merry on move, just lovely, Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show.
2nd: Mrs. S. Ewan`s: Craigdean Kokrdoodle do – BR close up to 1, both share the same sire, so difficult to split these two bitches,  Lovely head, soft expression, beautiful neck and shoulders, good rib, compact body, short, cobby, lovely rear angulation, just carrying a tad of weight over loin, presentation also excellent, moved out well, so close up to 1, splitting hairs here.
3rd: Mrs. E. Craig`s: Rancecraig Brief Encounter
Class 25: Special Beginners (Any Colour Dog or Bitch) (Entries: 1 Abs: 1)
 Class 26: Val Smith Memorial Open Stakes (Any Colour Dog or Bitch) (Entries: 4 Abs: 1)
1st: Mrs. J. Fairbairn`s: Amarillo Starlight of Carmelfair
2nd: Mrs. J. E. Smith`s: Craigdean Callimakokr at Luanshya
3rd: Mrs. S. McFarlane`s: Lochranza Lord of the Isles
