Judges Critique
Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)
I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at your 80th anniversary show. It was a true honour and privilege to have such a super entry both numerically and in quality. The standard of exhibits was high and the quality going right down the line. There was a lovely atmosphere at the ringside, with lots of goodies for the class winners and fabulous prizes for the top winners, not forgetting the scrummy cake. I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did and thank you so much for the pleasure of your dogs. Many hair splitting choices, what a lovely predicament to be in!
Veteran Dog (3,0)
1. Flowers - Totenkopf Kirlinjis Dutch Dragon JW ShCM
7 ½ year old black dog, being as fit as a fiddle and showing no signs of age. Having a pleasing outline when stood, the handler did have a tendency to over stretch him causing him to lose his topline. He has a lovely masculine head, well balanced and squareness to the muzzle, super dark eye giving a soft and gentle expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline. Good depth to the brisket and forechest. Well boned legs onto tight feet. Put down to perfection. All coming together on the move, carrying his tail a fraction higher, being happy and true - BVIS
2. Mrs Smith - Craigdean Franks A Million At Luanshya
Wow, this 11 year old b/r dog, seemed to think he was just 11 months old, very full of life and spritely. Liked his overall shape and size, being square and compact. He has good depth, not quite the forechest or substance of the winner. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move, well set on tail. Moving out with verve. A credit to his owner
3. Fairburn, Madigan, Nuttall - Chativore Stargazer
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1. D Todd - Glentree Tradition
Stood alone, but what a little cracker. Just fell for this 8 month old black dog, such a charmer. A typical puppy with a hint of naughtiness. When stood he has a smart and clean outline, being compact and square. His head as expected is still to develop, but showing to be well proportioned, with a kind dark eye. His clean neck flowed well into a well held topline. Super depth and spring of rib. Hindquarters have good width and turn of stifle, finished off with short hocks. On the move carried his tail a fraction higher, but this did not detract from his driving, happy and true movement - BPD & BPIS
Puppy Dog (2,0)
1. Mrs Mason - Lynshow Kyle
9 month old red dog, another showing lots of promise. Liked his overall shape and size. Having the compact body proportions, and well bodied. He has a pleasing head, dark and kind correctly shaped eyes. Strong neck flowing well into his level topline. Good depth to the brisket, standing on well boned legs. He has a moderate bend of stifle and short hocks. A happy chap on the move, with good width behind and being true.
2. Mrs & Miss Chelland - Totenkopf Dutch Show Time
10 month old black dog. Another nice puppy with much to like. Pleasing shape when stood. Loved his head, very balanced and masculine, kindest of expressions. Good depth to the body, super tight feet, a good bend of stifle. Not quite as precise in rear movement today as winner. Shown in good coat
Junior Dog (3,1)
1. Miss Yilmaz - Kalispell Kisim Kelpie
This young dog caught my eye, at only 13 months old this b/r dog, let his presence be felt. Put down to perfection, in super coat and condition. His outline on the stack showed him to have a cobby outline, being masculine, but with nothing overdone. Liked his classic well chiselled head, dark eye, and soft expression. He has good depth through the body and a good spring to the ribs. Well boned limbs onto cat like feet. Held his firm level topline both standing and on the move. On the move showed the ‘cocker bustle’ moving true and happy. Considered him for higher honours.
2. R Adams - Whinburn Night Owl
One of those classes where you wish you could award both dogs with a 1st place! Another with so much to like about him. Lovely 16 month old black dog. He has quality in abundance, liked him for his type and construction. Sturdy and masculine, shown in immaculate coat. He has a pleasing head showing plenty of work to it, super dark eye and square muzzle. Found him to have a well developed body with good depth all through and strong hindquarters. Moving well, but not quite the animation of the winner today

What a fabulous class, so spoilt for choice, quality right down the line

Winner, a very smart 2 ½ year old b/r dog. He has quality in abundance, and oozes style and presence. I just loved his overall balance and construction, a super dog from any angle. He has a compact outline with substance and masculinity yet a hint of elegance giving him a shapely silhouette. There is nothing to dislike, everything is in proportion and balance, not overdone in anyway. Lovely head, melting expression, his clean neck flowing seamlessly into a firm level topline, and correct set on of tail. Super depth and forechest, strong bone, tight feet, well angulated hindquarters with a good width of thigh, short hock to heel. He moved in harmony with his handler showing free and flowing movement. Put down in first class coat and condition. BD & BIS
2. R & Y Lowery - Bartonholm Blended Blues JW ShCM
A most appealing 3 year old b/r dog, another with plenty to admire and pleasing to the eye. He has a super ring presence about him, and allowed his character to show through, with that little hint of cocker cheekiness! He has an impressive outline, there is no mistaking his gender, he is all male, but not overdone. He is a sturdy and solid dog with a lovely flow from nose to tail. He is a fraction longer in loin than the winner. He has a handsome balanced head, with a lovely dark eye. Clean neck, good depth to the brisket and a super spring to the ribs. His limbs are well boned, and has cat like feet. He showed with enthusiasm and pizzazz, being parallel and true. Giving that little extra in the final challenge to take RBD & RBIS

Veteran Bitch (7,2)
1. Mrs MacFarlane - Lochranza Cordelia
Lovely black bitch coming up 9 years old. So sweet and endearing. She has a compact body shape when stood. Fell for her head, she has the most gentle expression, and only the slightest hint of grey to her muzzle. Her body has good substance all through with good ribbing and strong loin. Well boned limbs and tight feet. On the move in profile shows good drive and every wagging tail. She is so happy and outgoing, a typical merry cocker
2. Miss Torbett - Kirlinjis Little Mermaid JW
Another looking fabulous for her age. Dark b/r coming up 9 years old and still a little live wire. Built on slightly smaller frame than the winner. So ultra feminine all through with good body proportions. Lovely head, good depth to the brisket, well bent stifle and short hocks. Shown with her coat in full bloom and well presented. Moved with enthusiasm, perhaps a little too much at times, losing her topline a little! But loved her
3. Miss Torbett - Kirlinjis Ghostly Glow
Minor Puppy Bitch (8,3)
1. Miss MacLean - Lynwater Clotted Cream
Such a pretty o/r bitch and at only 8 months old certainly had ring presence about her. As you would expect there is still much to change and to tighten up on the move, but thought her to be a quality puppy showing lots of promise. She has the most lovely head piece, well moulded and with good chiselling. Lovely full dark eyes, with a ‘butter would not melt’ expression. Her neck flows well into her level topline, super depth for her age, well developed forechest, nicely boned limbs. Moving out with confidence and style, being true fore and aft - BPB
2. Mrs Madigan - Misperros Miranda
Another very promising youngster, a b/r 7 month old bitch. Much to admire, like her outline when stood, a nice size and shape. Her body is compact, but not quite the depth of winner as yet. Feminine head, enough neck, well bone and straight forelegs. She kept a firm topline standing and moving. Striding out well
