Open Critiques
East of Scotland Cocker Spaniel Club Open Show
Saturday 14th. March 2020
Critique: Anne Sutton (Shirepark)

Thank you to the Officer’s and Committee for their invitation to judge at this very well organised and friendly show.  Thank you to all the exhibitors for a super entry.  It was a pleasure to meet you all and to judge your English Cockers in Bonny Scotland.
I was spoilt for choice with some stand out dogs on the day; regrettably I couldn’t give them all top honours.  I found a small percentage of bites which weren’t quite correct.  Though those dogs had other strengths.   Thank you to all exhibitors for being sporting.  You created a fabulous atmosphere.  I hope you and your dogs all had fun!
Please accept my apologies for the late publication of my critique.  This is owing to the critical illness of a close family member over a significant period of time.

Class one: Veteran Dog (3:0)
First: Torbett’s KIRLINJIS DARE TO STARE ShCM
A balanced Blue Roan with square muzzle, well defined stop to his head.  He has good depth of chest with enough width, well sprung rib and level topline.  Good return of stifle to the rear and correct tail set.  He moved well.  Well presented.
Second: Bodzak’s BRICONESS SOLAR FLARE
Gold with moderate proportions though I prefer the shorter coupling of (1).  He has a lovely head and dark eye with gentle expression.  Good bone throughout.  Another with good spring of rib and good return of stifle.  Happy mover.  Well presented.
Third: MacFarlane’s COOLEELA ROB ROY

Class two: Minor Puppy Dog (2:0)

Second: Flower’s TOTENKOPT DUTCH TOPGUN
Gold (7 months).  A masculine baby with a lovely head and dark eye.  Good forearm with good width in front.  Good bone through with straight front legs and well-padded feet.  Shoulders well laid back.  He moved well but was a little unsettled on the move.  But a very nice quality puppy.
